Some things we've
had fun making.

Strange places, community prompts, music videos and artists we admire. A few of our experiments, with the stories that came with them.

16 projects

A desert photo, somewhere new

We took a photo of our local Southwestern landscape and followed it into a much stranger, more colorful desert. The original photo, style references and a prompt screenshot show how the idea developed.

Fortunate Son — Full_Caj

Our return after a long break: a music video for Full_Caj’s casual version of “Fortunate Son,” built from iterated images, animated scenes and a lot of editing.

Rando Landos

A collection of places that felt good to get lost in: winding rivers, little towns, oversized skies and a lot of color. A small Thanksgiving-season invitation to slow down and look around.

Cyber Animals

A short trip through the stranger side of the animal kingdom, where creature design meets machinery and neon.

Sweet Sixteen, slightly stranger

Our visual take on the 2024 Sweet Sixteen matchups: mascots, weather and rivalries turned into dramatic little worlds. Made for the fun of the tournament.

Mad Libz: a melancholy owl

An owl, a mossy branch and three words from the community: melancholy, moist and respectful. This one became a thank-you to the people making these experiments with us.

Mad Libz: a neon guardian

The same community words took a completely different turn: a trench-coated detective, wet streets and a little hope in a very melancholy city.

A river with a rhythm

A colorful landscape became the starting point for a reggae-flavored music experiment. We followed the image into lyrics, a song and an animated scene.

From Yesterday to Tomorrow

An old soul wakes up in a world that has moved on, then decides to meet it with curiosity. A small story about keeping your mind open when everything around you changes.

For the busted brackets

For everyone whose bracket fell apart: some sad little basketball characters, a court in the jungle and a musical nod to the chaos of March Madness.

Mike Mignola

Our first Friday feature, and the reason for the whole idea: give some attention back to the artists who opened up these worlds for us. This collection follows our admiration for Mike Mignola’s dark, graphic storytelling.

Kazuto Nakazawa

Our second Friday feature followed our love of Kazuto Nakazawa’s anime aesthetic. Samurai Champloo was the recommendation in the original post; these are our own attempts at exploring that energy.

Harry Clarke

Rich color, intricate lines and strange, beautiful atmosphere. Our Harry Clarke feature was an invitation to spend time with the real stained glass and illustrations that inspired these experiments.

Thank you, Akira Toriyama

A farewell to the imagination behind Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump. We made this collection with affection for the worlds, friendships and impossible adventures that stayed with us.

Peace to the Handala

A poster collection made in solidarity with the Handala aid mission and the people of Palestine. This work came from the same place as the original caption: care for human life and a refusal to look away.

Press freedom & solidarity

Four images from our February 2024 post about Julian Assange, press freedom and opposition to war profiteering. A dated expression of what mattered to us when we made it.
